MATCH REPORTS.
Mossley Hill 5 - 5 Halewood (cup)
Last night I laid down my plans to overcome Halewood as we had 13 players.
How come then we began the game after a parents meeting discussing loyalty and committment from our parents with only 10 men?
I will be Manager again next season as I need to take on the challenges created to get this team back were it belongs. I will face them head on and I aim to improve every part of the set up. Its too late now to go over old ground but We will get back to were we belong(top and champions).
I will find more players and every single player that would like to be considered for next season will go on trial for their place in June.
I intend to be loyal to the players that have shown the team true loyalty and those who have not will go on trial with the new additions for their places.
We have played 85% of our games with 10 men or less. I can officialy state that other teams do not interest me in the slightest apart from school boy or club trials. Big changes for next season and I will be aiming for a quality squad.
We cannot change the past but we can change the future.
The game was good for the neutral but unfair on the players that struggled to deal with the extra man. Final score 5-5(gifford hatrick and dodgeshon)
M.O.M Captain dodgeshon.
Mossley Hill 3-1 Halewood Town
Terrible weather but not a bad days football.Although in the warm up we lacked focus and concentration and therefore set ourselves up for a fall, I thought we started with a pretty good attitude and we should of gone ahead early on when Darren give up a guilt edged chance up from 8 yards out. 5 minutes later we were behind after we switched off at the back and midfield and failed to clear the ball.
We kept our shape and created plenty of chances to score again but the skipper put his oppertunity away and ended the game with a hatrick. Maybe his hard work in training is paying off. Mick don and Kieran Mills kept the menacing Paddy Stanton quite.Overall a good performance in bad conditions and the whole team showed a good attitude and deserved the win.

Mossley Hill 2-1 Marshalls
We started this game with 10 men again,Somehow whoever reads this page will not be suprised to hear it.
Anyway we began very brightly with a lot of possesion and some good flowing football. The game plan was to show people that we are still a good side who can play good football. We scored with the run of play when Sam Page chipped over a tight defence for Culcozy to run onto and finish sweetly into the right hand side of the goal.
Culcozy was on target again in the second half.Sadly thats when we stopped playing attacking football and sat a little bit too deep inviting pressure on our defence. Alex Evans made some great saves to keep us in the lead but was beaten eventually by a powerful drive from their forward.
M.O.M A.Evans
Mossley Hill 0 - 0 Oasis
Although we only had 9 men to start we moved the ball well against a side that have improved their team with some good players.
2 late arrivals gave us 11 men and against the wind we needed them. However Joe Moorecroft got crunched twice and unfortunately left the field thus leaving us with ten men.
Our opponents defended well and even managed to create some good chances to go in ahead. We played some good football at times today but we should of scored on plenty of occasions.Adam Owens created plenty of chances and will start turning the chances into goals shortly. Darren Culcozy could of had a hatrick and Darnel put enough balls into the Hot zones for our strikers to score from. Not our day or our season.
M.O.M AND CAPTAIN TODAY M.DONOHUE.
Mossley Hill 1 - 2 Belle Vale
A windy but bright day, but the grass had recently been cut so no problems with the playing surface.
We lost our goal keeper for the start of the game and therefore first half to the school wich did not help us but to be fair to John Keatly he again went in the nets without any complaints to put the benefit of the team in front of his own preferences( special thanks John).
We began the game much brighter than our opponents who are pushing for the title, but we lost our way a little bit with some decision making and that led to both of thier goals. This does happen in football at every level so I am not going to bark on about negatives.
We created some great chances and should of been leading the game at half time.Adam Owens played well in the final third and was unlucky on a few occasions.Darren Culcozy tooked the ball away with aplomb in the second half but for the team it was a case of too little too late. Although all the back 4 played well throughout the game Mick Donohue had a great game and put in some decisive challenges.
We are now well out of the title race for this season but considering all of the let downs we have had this year with losing players I am happy with the attitude of most of the squad. We will add to this squad next season to make us stronger all over but for now we must all dig deep, keep going and lets try and win the cup competition. We are more than capable of beating any team in this league should we be full strength and all committed.
M.OM. M.Donohue
Mossley Hill 5 - 0 Belle Vale Youth
After some confusion with what pitch we were on because somebody else was playing on ours we eventually managed to get the game underway.
We had to get off to a good start and Adam Owens started up front with John and caused their defence many problems all game and was rewarded with a brace.
Darnel Smith added another and also came close on many occasions.
John Keatley managed to get on the score sheet again as did Joe Moorecroft Moran who jumped higher than our opposition to head home to make it 5 - 0 at half time.
The second half performance was as good as the first and we never looked in any real danger of conceeding all game. Well done lads.
M.o.m A.Owens.
Mossley 0- 1 NWLL (Tesco cup)
The fog could have stopped this game early on, but the referee made the decision to play the game. I thought it was just playable.
With some very short notice we were let down by 2 players failure to listen that our game takes preference but I am not going to go on about them.
We played a team who are currently pushing for the league in the Belle Vale league with only 10 men. We were very difficult to break down and we stuck to our game plan but you cannot do anything unless players have heart and desire and the strength from within to do well. We had the lot.
With every game in Liverpool nearly abandoned the support was three deep. Joe Moorecroft has been unwell for the past 2 weeks. He was not going to miss this one and really helped strenghthen the back 4. Kieran Mills put some great decisive challenges in and him and Joe look like a great partnership. Ibou again looked solid and he is also looking to play football. John played in goal and looked like keeping a clean sheet but was helpless for their goal. Adam stepped in at right back and also looked very good in possesion.Darnel put some great balls up to sedgie who played up front on his own, again a difficult task. With Darren playing on the right hand side and Sam and our skipper in the centre I thought overall we tried our best and deserved a draw.
Alex dodgeshon was everywhere and proved to alot of people how good he really is.
We were applauded off the pitch and rightly so. We can keep our heads raised firmly high because this was the best performence I have seen in a long time. We can give Netherly credit for not giving up and making life difficult for us but I thought we played the more attractive football when we had the chance. Well done lads great attitude and quality football. Its not long now before we can start kicking in again and dominating as we know we can.
MHFC 1 FINN HARPS 9
Where did we go wrong? we could blame the fact we lost 2 out of 3 of our centre backs? We could say that we have lots of new players and they need time to bed in? We could say that the opposition put the ball in the back of our net with some great counter attacking football. In fact we could come out with plenty of excuses for our humiliating defeat.
No chance, today we lost our game because we were not organised, not together, no heart and desire, did not play for the badge, did not defend as a team, did not play our first touch into space, did not play the simple pass, did not move into space after we eventually did complete a pass, did not control the midfield, were not giving 100% and what hurts the most is did not care if we lost the game by ten goals or more.
This club has great traditions and we have been very succesful over the last few seasons but when players move on to academy clubs, school of excellence or the fact that they think Mossley Hill were lucky to be graced with previous players sheer presence, our success come down to a few things. They were EFFORT,TEAMWORK,HEART AND DESIRE, NEVER SAY NEVER ATTITUDE AND ABOVE ALL ELSE SELF BELIEF.We can turn our season around if we start to believe and show plenty more commitment. The league this season will be won by Finn Harps or Belle Vale and rightly so. I am building a squad for next season and plenty seasons after that. Get aboard and start committing or go and find another club that will allow you to do what you please because this club will not. For those players that are hurt and disappointed I will see you at Training. Get your heads up and lets pull together work hard and show the critics what were made of. COME ON MOSSLEY HILL UNDER 13"S.
M.O.M KIERAN MILLS.
MHFC 8 - 0 FITWELL
This was our first game of 2008 and our new year. We have done well in this competition so far but this was the first time we have had a full side.
The conditions were not great with mud and sludge interfering with our normal passing game, but I was impressed with the fact we are now starting to build our passing in possesion with more ease than in previous games.
With Kieran and Alfie making thier debuts I thought the balance of play may be affected, but they both had a good start and netted a brace each.John Keatley is really starting to push on and is more than deserving of a start up front. He caused many problems for their defence today and netted a goal but could on another day have had plenty more.
The skipper netted his brace and sedgie got on the score sheet again. We won the game 8-0 and could of had more but for some fine goalkeeping.I will build a side capable of winning many trophies but I am also trying to build a side that loves the team they play for and wears the kit with pride.I have seen what I beleive to be that side on few occasions this season but today I can feel my ambition to be very achievable.Well done lads and keep up the good work.
MHFC 1 - 0 M.Y.A REPS
Ten men again???
MHFC 0-0 FUR AND FEATHER
Whilst the opposition were warming up we had 8 players, eventually we stated the game with 10 men. It is for this reason we never got the win we needed to continue to protect our title.
Darren got injured early on leaving us with 9 men.To play against a top 4 side with 2 men less is a massive task. The remaining 9 players gave everything they had and we created chances we would normally put away.We showed grit determination and tried to outplay a team that had 3 subs. The characterof my players will get us through this difficult period and we will putthings right and come out on top. This period of slf pressure will en soon and in the new year we will e pushing and competing the way we have in the past The final score was 0-0 and we deserved to win the game on the second half pformence. In my eyes I saw things in that game that wll put shock waves through the rest of the league.
Keep going lads because we have now past the big wave and will ride on the next crest all the way t he beach.
m.o.m all 9 players
BELLE VALE 2- MHFC
The game was played with a low tempo and we ere beaten because again we lacked effort, organisation and a want to win atitude. We have too many players who have the wrong
BELLE VALE YOUTH 1 - 5 MHFC
MAYFIELD 1 - 17 MHFC
FINN HARPS 2 - 0 MHFC
PHYTHIAN 2- MHFC 4
Fur and Feather 1 - 5 MHFC
26/10/07- MHFC 5 - 1 GILMOUR
We held a minutes silence before the game in memory of Liam Costello who tragically died on Friday. He played for Woolton Warriors and will be sadly missed. Our thoughts go out to Liams family.
The possesion in the first half was top draw and we looked very comfortable,if it was not for some poor finishing we would have won the game in the first half.Darren was threatening the back four and eventually scored. We gave a freekick away near the edge of the box and failed to clear and mark up properly and were punished for it.
1-1 at the break and we needed to be quick out of the blocks.Jack was quick to take his opportunity quickley followed by sedgie who got a brace,Kieran chipped in with a goal.final score 5-1.
m.o.m I.Taure
13/10/07- MARSHALLS 0 - 5 MHFC
The conditions were good and we played good possesion football in the first half.If we work more on having an end product in the final third and creating space in that area then we will also create more chances.Overall it was a very good performance considering it was only our 3rd game.Goal scorers Darren c 3,d.gifford and i.Touray.
m.o.m K,Mills.
6/10/07 - Pagefield Jnrs 1 - 16 MHFC(tesco cup)
Well done to the opposition who coducted themselves very welland never gave up.They had some tricky forwards who caused us a few problems but we were very good today and only have 11 players for this competiion and will do our very best.Lets see how far we can go?
29/9/07 - MAYFIELD 0 - 8 MHFC
Mayfield have improved since last season with some new additions to the squad. We started the game at a slower pace than normal,we knocked the ball around well and created many chances in a poor first half.Mayfield also tried to play in spells but never relly threatened our goal.
This was our first game of the season and it showed,as it was not up to our nomal high standards but I was happy with the posesion and the chances we created. If for better finnishing w would have ened the first 4 or 5 nil up. At half time we organised and changed our formation slightly to a 3-4-3 and scored fromthe kick of with dale gifford netting iirst oal of he afternoon,he managed to add to his tally netting his fourth of the afernoon.Dodgshon, keatly,Sedgwick and Taure also chiped in to finsh the game 8-0 winners.

NEWSFLASH,UPDATES..
Game Saturday v Finn Harps (11.15 Simpsons) meet at 10.45. If we win this game by the right score we can still make the final so can we please have a full squad.
Minutes of meeting;
a) It was discussed that next season Marcel will run the team with myself and that we would possibly run a Sunday side.
b) School football and school boy football will kick off at the same time as the Saturday side and therefore players who play for the school would have to make a choice as to what team to play for.The Sunday team is an option for those players that do want to stay involved with Mossley Hill or would like to play for us both Sat and Sun.
c) It was raised that the continuity of Parents paying subs was unfair and some parents felt that they were supporting others to keep the team running.Next season every Parent will have to pay the same amount but for those that are struggling to fund their child, a card selling scheme would be done monthly to keep the subs up to date.
d)It was mentioned that the standards of the team and the running of the team have dropped this season and that every player and parent should think carefully before committing next season to the standards laid down by the club.It deserves more respect than what it got this season.
e) It was stated that we would recruit more players next season both of a Saturday and Sunday. The squad would consist of 17-18 players on both days and that it was imperitive to keep the high standards of personnel for player development, or risk losing our more gifted players.
f)I t was discussed that playing games with 9 and 10 men every week was totaly unfair and that strength in depth was the answer.
g)It was also stated that in the event that we cannot get a big enough squad then the Saturday team would fold. This decision can only be made after we have exhausted every avenue to attract players.
h) It was also agreed that if players were happy playing for other Sunday teams next season then we will respect that but if we only play Sundays then again a decision must be made.As is every season the most loyal and committed players will be rewarded with more match time.
Finally I am always looking for more help and if any Parent would like to offer some time then we always have a job for them. Lets now start making up our minds for next season as we will be working with players in tournaments that we feel will be here next season. Marcel and I will meet next Month to discuss what tournaments we will enter.
