Blacon Youth Res 4 Mossley Hill 3 Lge 3/5/08 They say football is a funny old game 3,1 up with 10 minutes left stroking the ball around like Brazil next minute we play like Tesco's tearaways and concede 3 crazy goals. The team this season has scored 108 goals and conceded 34 albeit 7 in the last 2 games,we have the best goal difference in the 3 leagues of 74 and the most goals scored.We have a great game to look forward to on Wednesday were we need to ensure we eliminate silly mistakes if we are to bring home the Trophy.We look forward to 2nd Division Football next season having deserved our Title this season. MOTM Phill Frankland Pensby 3 Mossley Hill 2 Lge 26/4/08 Mossley hill Started the game playing like true champions carving open the Pensby defence time and time again.On another day the game could have been over after 20 minutes the woodwork and good fortune kept the scores level.As in all games if you do not score you are always vulnerable.Two defences lapses and penalty left the team realing at 3,0.down.Half Time came and went with a rallying cry to turn the game round.Mossley dominated the second half Simon scored after a fortunate deflection of a free kick,Steve Wilson came of the bench to score a cracker from 25 yds.Chances once again were created but could not score.Simon had a chance in the last few seconds to equalise but put the ball over the bar.A much better performance in the second half but mistakes are always costly and we need to learn for the Cup Final and when we play in Div 2 were we deserve to be playing in next season. MOTM Kevin Frankland Mossley Hill 3 Blacon Youth 0 Lge 23/04/08 Mossley Hill had a determination to ensure the title was won at home,in front of their local support.It has been 34 years since a Senior team had won a Championship and we were not going to let the chance pass us by.As usual Mossley started at a frantic paces carving open the Blacon defense time and time again.Mike was released with a great through ball and ended up in the area to finish at the far post.Simon was a constant threat and helped himself to yet another goal with a great finish just inside the box. H.T. 2,0. In the second half Mossley got on top and continued to play some great football,A quick throw out to Steven Owens from Paul,was put forward to Kevin Frankland who scored a memorable goal.Several other chances were created but were not converted.Mossley Hill received the Championship from The West Cheshire President who we thank for taking the time to present the trophy. MOTM Phill Frankland Mossley Hill 3 Runcrn 2 Lge Mossley started slowly in a game that would have a great bearing on the title.Mossely took the lead with a well worked goal that Kevin finished with a great strike from a through ball perfectlly wheighted by Mike. Half tiime1,0. In the second half Mossley Dominated adding a second through a long range shot from Phiil.Against the run of play Runcorn scored through long range frree kick at least making the game interesting Mossley then had 2 goals disallowed.The 3rd goal was never far away another neat move allowed Kevin to score again to make ot 3,2. The last goal was something best forgotten,Mossley had gained promotion at the first time of asking we are now chasing the Championship. MOTM Benn Carson Mosssley Hill 7 Fairfield 1 Lge 8/4/08 Mossley started the game as if their lives depended on the result,We had 5 corners within the first 10 mins but could not take advantage,Steven Owen opened the scoring with some great interplay and a brilliant finish.A Long Free Kick from Benn found the back of the net with a ball whipped in at the far post.Kevin Frankland a constant thorn in the side of Fairfield added a third goal after some persistent forward play.Kev then added the forth with a great take and excellent shot into the far corner. Half time 4.0. Several players added to our impressive total with Steve Wilson scoring two well taken goals,Phil Frankland also got himself on the score sheet to complete a great result for the Club.The team are all playing with a great determination and committment at the moment and are also playing some excellent football. MOTM Benn Carson Bronze Social 1 Mossley Hill 1Lge 29/03/08 In a game no team could afford to lose,Mossley started the better and had Bronze on the back foot for long periods.The weather was a real factor in stopping a good game of football. We had several chances to score the best falling to Simon who shot straight at the keeper.A few chances fell to people at corners but were not converted.At half time it was all square,Just after half time Callum Holmes scored with great run and shot in at the far post.This sent Mossley into overdrive and with the Ref trying his best to stop us scoring dissallowing a goal from Steven Owens for pushing his own players.With the clock ticking Mossley had quite a few chances to score and a blatant penalty turned down.Steve Wilson came of the bench score a dramatic winner 1min before the end.Mossley deserved their point and it should have been more.Great work rate and committment from the lads. MOTM Benn Carson Mossley Hill 5 Pensby 0 lge 22/ 03 /08 Mossley Hill in a must win game came out of the traps quickly.They were looking to get last weeks defeat out of their system as soon as possible . Phill scored with a great first time shot from outside the box to settle any nerves.Kevin added the second with a great follow up from his initial shot.The score went to 3 with a tremendous header from Neil Mac from a Kevin F corner.It was always going to be one way traffic , the 4th goal started from Paul Jones our keeper and finished with a great shot from Simon ending up in the back of the net. HalfTime 4,0. It was all set up for an avalanche however a single goal from Simon ended the game with early shot which left the Goal keeper rooted to the spot. To their credit Pensby never stopped and kept playing till the end. MOTM Phill Frankland Mossley Hill 2 15/03/08 Lge Mossley Hill started this game at a pace the opposition could not cope with,we should have been 3 ,0 after 5 minutes but could not convert our chances,as Mossley continued to dominate the lack of finishing was always going to prove costly,Focus broke and went 1,0 up. At half time Mossley must have wondered what was needed to do to get in front.In the second half Mossley equalised from a great move and a neat shot in at the far post from Kevin ,The second goal was not long in coming with yet another great move finished off by Steve Wilson.Focus never say die attitude got them level when they scored form a free kick were poor marking allowed them to get a free header in the box.With Mossley still unable to capitalise on their chances,A curling shot in under the bar gave Focus a great win and yet another lesson to be learned for a very young Mossley Team. MOTM Phill Frankland Upton AA 0 Mossley Hill 2 league 8/3/08 A game were the result was more important than the performance an a day when the weather was very unpredicable Mossley set off at a great pace.Three goals were dissalowed for off sides however Mossley kept plugging away.After constant pressure A penalty was given for hand ball inside the box. despatched by Simon with a great strike.In the second half Mossley continued to dominate with some great football.Simon added a second with anoter great finish,we continued to play well but could not force the third goal. MOTM Benn Carson Mossley Hill 1 Runcorn Town 2 Cup 1/3/08 Mossley Hill dominated this game and like all big games mistakes can be costly.Our goalkeeper had little to do in the match theirs produced some saves that were incredible.In the last 15 minutes the Runcorn Goal was under siege and some how the ball would not go in the back of the net.In the first half we also hit a post and created some excellent chances to score .The celebrations were there for everyone to see at the end of the game as Runcorn must have wondered how they had got through to the final.All the players gave their all and showed great character we now must concentrate on the League and await a County cup final in May. Mossley Hill 5 St Werbergs 0 Lge 16th Feb 08 The team new how important it was to get a result with several other top teams not playing.The pace and accuracy of our game was a joy to watch at times with chance after chance being created.Dave Pownall got himself in the area to open the scoring with a neat finish.Simon then received a ball from the right to hit a low drive in at the far post Some neat interplay saw Benn put through and kept his nerve to bend a shot into the top corner of the net. At half time the the team had played some great football and deserved the commanding lead.Simon the took a great opportunity to score with a great low drive to add to his impresive total .Phill Franlkland then burst through the middle to make it 5,0. a comprehensive win at this stage of the season. Mossley Hill 3 Bootleonians 1 Cup 9/2/08 Mossley for the second year running are in a County Cup Final.The team started and finished the game in great style Simon Ellison scored from a free kick make it 1,0..The second was started by Dave Pownall on the edge of his own box and he ended up putting in the cross for Simon on hand to finish at the far post,after a clever dummy from Benn. Bootle scored from a speculative shot from 20 yds to give the game some excitement.Mike forshaw came off the bench to add the 3rd with only 5 mins left another good performance from the team ,we now can froget about the Cup till May and concentrate on the league. Well done lads MOM Steve Owen Mossley Hill 3 Mersey Royal 2 Lge 2/2/08 A Game Mosley Hill should have been well ahead at Half Time but through good fortune and missing good chances we found ourselves 1,0.down.A shake up was needed with S Moorland coming on at half time.Just after half time the score was made 2,0. We had to change the formation and could have paid the ultimate price if it was not for N Mc Carthy and a great goal line clearance.The team needed to work hard with chances going begging throghout the second half.With only 15 mins left our never say die attitude came to our rescue with Stuart getting 2 goals and Simon Ellison getting the winner to kep our promotion season on track. MOM Phill Frankland Mossley Hill 1 Olds Xaviers 0 Cup 12/01/08 A Full blooded Cup encouter with both teams wanting to get through to the semi final.Mossley started the better and should have been out of sight after 15 mins.It took a penalty to unlock the oppositions defense,which Simon despatched to make the score 1,0.The pitch cut up badly and we needed all our levels of fitness to keep going .At 1,0. it was always going to be a battle our defense held firm and kept another clean sheet. The team are a credit to the Club and another semi final place awaits. MOM David Pownal Mossley Hill 2 Capenhurst Res 1 5/1/08 Lge A much improved Capenhurst team took the lead against the run of play with a very dubious penalty.They held their lead till half time with Mossley missing chances time and time again.The tean spirit showed in the second half with the lads digging deep on a very heavy pitch.Steve Wilson scored from a great through ball to make it 1,1. We then set siege on the oppositions goal with time running out Simon got the winner our all round play deserved. MOM Steve Wilson Shatsbury 1 Mossley Hill 8 Lge 29/12/07 Cold day almost blizzard conditions we played some great football keeping our championship hopes on course. MOM Phill Frankland. Mossley Hill 4 Hale 1 Lge 22/12/07 Hale are a young team with great potential and will win more games this season.Mossley scored with a direct free Kick from Phill Frankland going under the wall and past a surprised keeper. Sean Allcock went from his own penalty area to the oppositions box and scored what can only be described as a fantastic Goal.Steven Owen scored from a square ball from Paul Wells.Paul Cannon got in on the act to make it 4 with a great finish with the outside of his boot,A good result as Xmas is always a difficult time. Albany 0 Mossley Hill 1 Junior Cup 15/12/07 If there was ever a justification for moving to thw West Cheshire league it was here today.On a pitch that looked and played like a ploughed field the team had to be fully committed and strong.Good football was never likely to be played but little there was Mossley tried to play.The defense was magnificent ,with Colin also in inspired form.All the team had to compete to get anything out of the game and with 10 mins left Michael Forshaw scored inside the penalty area with a curling shot into the right hand corner of the net. We needed to see out a few more chances but ran out winners and into the Quarter Finals. St Wherbegs 2 Mossley Hill 6 League 1/12/07 Mossley Hill Started the game and set a cracking pace.Kevin finished off a great move to make it 1,0. Steve Owen then had a great opportunity and hit a great strike in of the far post. Simon was then to get in on the act with the 3rd after Kevin squared the ball to allow the chance to tap in.Neil the got himself in to the penalty area and scored a trade mark goal from yet another corner.Simon added another 2 before half time to complete a great hatrick.In the second Half Simon added his forth from a great flowing move and a calm finsh,Mike came off the bench to round the keeper to give the score line a better reflection of our dominance.They Scored a penalty don't ask and a long range shot from a good move.To their credit they never stopped working. MOM Ben Carson Mossley Hill 6 Uptonn AA Res 0 League 24/11/07 A Game Mossley needed to win to keep up their title challenge saw the team out of the traps at a teriffic pace. Neil Mac opened the scoring from a far post corner with a finish most strikers would be proud of.Kevin Frankland then added two great goals before half time with two excellent finishes.Simon not to be out done scored two goals finishing off some great free flowing football.Kevin was then brought down in the box to allow Simon to complete his hatrick.A Great team performance with everyone playing their part. Colin also made some telling saves at crucial moments. MOM Kevin Frankland. Manor 0 Mossley Hill 0 Lge 17th 17/11/07 Mossley Hill played all the football in this game but could not breach a strong and resilient defense.Manor play to their strengths looking to use their height and weight advantage from free kicks and throw ins.Mossley kept them at bay for most of the game only troubled once or twice.Manor played for the draw with at least 15 mins to go,cant blame them in their position. Mossley Hill 4 Shaftsbury 1 Lge 11/11/07 A late kick off meant the start was delayed while Shaftsbury got 11 players on the pitch.Yes they did start with 11.Mossley were 1,0 down at half time through a penalty being awarded to the oposition. In the second half Neil McCarthy scored from deep cross to equalise.A neat move then Saw Simon get our noses in front with a clever through ball from Mike converted very well by the big fella .Paul McNeil added a third with a great finish and Kevin Frankland rounded of the result with another trade mark Goal full of power and conviction. MOM Phill Frankland Ellesmere Port Res 3 Mossley Hill 4 Lge 4/11/07 A game which had everything,Mossley were up against it after 18 Mins when one of our players left the pitch.All the players had to give an extra 10% to get anything out of this game.With a rejuvinated Ellesemere Port team looking to avenge the hammering they took at Mossley the game was always going to be tough.Mossley Opened the scoring with a great finish from Simon to make it 1,0.the game was level minutes later when a ball we could have been cleared fell kindly to one of their players who hit it first time to take a deflection in to the net. Phill got the second with a great free kick fron 25 yds which flew in the top corner.David Pownall made it 3 ,1 when put through from a great ball from Sean Allcock and placed the ball in at the far post.A second goal from the opposition had the game on a knife edge.The second Half saw an equaliser just after the break and had the team on the back foot.With great grit and determination the lads pulled the game out of the hat with a great goal from Simon Ellison to record a very valuable win. Mossley Hill 5 Fairfield 2 27/10/07 Junior Cup Mossley Started a little slowly in this game and found themselves a goal down after 20 mins,this seemed to inspire the team who then started to find their usual fast fluent passing game.Kevin Frankland who has been in great form helped himself to another goal.Simon Ellison scored with a header which came form some great foootball.Mike scored with a tap in although disputed by KF. Phill got the opener with his head he claimed it was similar to Steven Gerrad during the week.( You Wish) Paul Cannon rounded of a good move with a calm fininsh in to the corner of the net.Back to league Action Next week. 7 Bronze Social 0 Cup 20/10/07 Bronze Social took 3 points from the team a few weeks ago,with this in mind the the team went about their job in a very proffesional manner.At Half time the score line did not reflect the dominance of Mossley who could have had the game wrapped up.Halt Time score 0,0. The second half saw a remarkable performance with the team netting no fewer than 7 times,Kevin Frankland adding 5 to he own personal tally and Simon and Benn addidng one each.This is the third time this season the team have scored 6 or more in the second Half. MOTM Shared Kevin Frankland and Benn Carson Mossley hill 1 Manor Park 2 League 13/10/07 Mossley dominated this game for long periods and with a littleluck could have been out of sight.The Manor Goalkeeper made several telling saves in both halves and was only beaten once from the penalty spot,Simon Ellison scoring again.2 Goals conceded were a defensive lapse and a Goalkeeping error which at this level is always going to catch you out.We need to ensure against the best teams we are at our best in every position. MOM Benn Carson RainHill 0 Mossley Hill 3 6/10/07 Junior Cup Mossley Hill needed to work hard to break down a well organised and determined Rain Hill team.A well worked goal opened the scoring for Simon Ellison to notch once again.Having then put a series of great crosses into the boxand wondered why it was only1,0.at Halftime.The second half saw some great football with the Rainhill defense being carved open time and time again.Steven Owen came of the bench to score from close range with Stuart Moorland also coming on to score with a great finish. A Fine win which was well deserved by the lads. Mossley Hill 1 Bronze Social 2 29/9/07 In a game that Mossley dominated the score line did not reflect the chances we created.Kevin Frankland scored to make it 1,0. to Mossley.We never really looked in danger. 2 goals in 3 minutes turned the game on it's head. We then camped out in the Bronze Social's half with several chances going begging.We had a couple cleared off the line and with time running out tried to force an eaqualiser as the final whistle went the team had been defeated for the first time.If we play like this not many defeats will be forthcoming. MOM Sean Alcock Mossley Hill 7 Elsmere Port Res 0 League 22/9/07 I thought I would never see the team hit 6 for the second time this season in the second half of a match. We played particularly well in the first Half creating several opportunities to score.Just before half time a break from midfield allowed Mike Forshaw in to score with a low drive in to the bottom right hand corner.Kevin Frankland was always athreat with several headers just missing the target. The second half saw the team raise there game even further creating chance after Chance.Simon Ellison helped himself to 4 goals,Wayne and Staurt Moorland came of the bench to get one a piece.The football overall was of a very high standard with everyone playing their part. MOM Benn Carson Richmond Raith Rovers 1 Mossley Hill 2 Lge 5/09/07 Back to league action saw Mossley going to the only team to take a point of us this season.As it was a chance to stretch our lead it was important we won the game.A pitch which wasin quite poor condition stopped both sides from playing football. Mossley were always in control of the game and looked the more likely to score,several good openings in the first half were not converted and we reached Halt time at 0,0. The second half was dominated by Mossley with us always creating opportunities.A neat move from back to front saw Kevin inside the box and calmly slotted home.To add to his impressive tally this season Kevin finished a great move with a chip over the Keeper.The game at this point was looking to be closed out but some strange Goal keeping gave us a few hairy moments.A good 3 points on a windy day on a difficult pitch.Well done lads. MOM Kevin Frankland Number 7 Upton A A Res 2 Mossley Hill 4 Cup 8/9/07 A game which was played at great pace with both teams playing some excellent Football.Mossley fell behind early to a well taken goal.A quick resopnse from the team was needed a great move left Kevin Frankland free in the box to calmly slot home the equaliser.Some slack defending from a corner and Upton were back in the lead.Mossley Carved open several chances to score. It looked if it was not going to be our day.With 18 minutes left David Pownall came on to equalise with a great half volley.Mossley then went looking for the winner.Macca scored from a corner whipped in under the crosbar.With only minutes remaining a great move with at least 5 players involved saw Kevin put in again who provided a great finish to a move which deserved a goal. MOM S Ellison Capenhurst Res 0 Mossley Hill 4 Date 1.09/07 League Mossley Hill played some great football at times carving open the Capenhurst defence time and time again.We had several chances to score before Simon Ellison calmed the nerves with a great finish.Ben Carson added a second with a thunderous shot with his right foot which the keeper was unable to hold. I wish a back pass the keeper fumbled. 2,0. at halftime. In the second half the team went up a few gears and looked to kill off the game.Simon and Kevin scored again to give the score line a more accurate reflection of the game.Our defense never conceded for the 2nd week running and deserve a lot of credit giving the team the platform to play. MOM Benn Carson. P.S. Wayne definatley played on the wing. Fairfied Athletic Res 0 Mossley Hill 3. Date 29/08/07 League A game which saw several spectacular efforts at goal in the first Half. Simon with a thunderous shot at goal crashing against the bar.Wayne had an overhead Kick also hit the bar and drop down on the goal line.0,0. at Halftime with Mossley playing some great flowing football we all waited for the flood gates to open.Fairfield to their credit kept going and made life difficult for our team to score.The team kept playing with Simon helping himself to his 8th of the season,Kevin Frankland a constant thorn in the oppositions side adding his 7th of the season.Ben Smythe came off the bench to wrap up the points for Mossley Hill.Neil Mac got quite a nasty injury and we wish him a speedy recovery.MOM John Clare.
