Mossley Hill 1 Wigan 1 Lge 1/5/08 In the last game of the season these two sides are evenly matched as the league positions show.A tight game was always on the cards with Mossley Starting the brighter we had seceral cahances to take the lead.As always if you do not take your chances you get punished.Wigan broke away and scored with their frst shot of the game.In the second half the game was more cagey and a special goal from Steph Lambkin made the scores level hitting a shot in from 25yds in off the post.The girls have all worked hard to establish themselves at this level and can be proud of their achievements.We have only lost 5 game in the league this season.We now have a break and will come back to 2 nights a week training. Bolton 0 Mossley hill 2 Lge 27/04/08 Mossley Hill played on a Muddy pitch with the ball continuously lifting it made playing football very difficult indeed.We dominated the first half and has several half chances but could not convert.Kimberley and Carla were constantly linking up and giving the Bolton defense terrible problems,Lorna once again never stopped running and was always a threat.Carla opened the scoring with a long range shot,the team then had a penalty wawarded Carl hit a shot that eventualy reached the keeper.H.T. 0,1. The second Half saw more of the same with Mossley Dominating for long periods,Lorna tapped in a shot from Kimberely to get a goal her hard work deserved.Heather and Chelsea marshalled the defense brilliantly with Lauren and Sarah having solid games at the back.Michelle was her usual reliable self.Steph also had a good game in midfield and showed a good range of passing.F.T.0,2. We have now finished 5th in the Premier league a great result for our First season. Mossley Hill 3 Wirrel 1 Lge 20/04/08 Mossley Hill consolodated their position of 5th in the league with a win over Wirrel,Carla started the game with her strike partner up front returning,Stacey.A great move which started down the right Jennifer Lally fed Kimberley who hit a long range pass to Carla who finished brilliiantly with a first time shot past the keeper.The second saw Stacey free in the area to finish with her left foot.Wirrel were then awarded a dubious free kick which was despatched with a geat long range shot.Halt Time 2,1. The second half saw a penalty appeal from Wirrel and advantage played the shot was despatched over the bar.This may have been a turnng point in the game as Mossley Hill went down the other end a and Steph Lambkin hit a shot from the edge of the box that ended up in the net.Our defense held firm with Michelle in fine from in goal.We created several other chances to increase our lead,but at this satge of the season a win is a win.Well done girls for your age it is has been a great season. Wigan Ladies 0 Mossley Hill 0 Lge 17/04/08 A game were Mossley had most of the play and should have taken the lead when the goalkeeper spilled the ball and presented a great opportunity to Lorna,who had worked he socks off all game.We picked the ball up on the M 6 on the way home.After that we never really tested the keeper Stacey headed over from a few yards out. several other half chances were created by Carla's hard work. The defense played very well as usual with all the girls giving their best.After all the presure we had in the second half Wigan could have pinched it late on but Jenifer Lally cleared off the line in the last minutie.With the light fading Stacey picked up yet another injury which has been a constant problem this season. Wel done girls a good performance under the circumstances. Liverpool Feds 2 Mossley hill 0 23/03/08 In a game were the Mossley team had 5 gilrs who were 16 and the rest 17 it was always going to be a tough ask against a much older and experienced team.To the Credit of Mossley they reduced the Feds to long range shots for most of the game.What we are getting is a team full of committment and determination.We had a few half chances in the game but never eally tested their keeper.Our defense played very well keeping the score down with a well organised performance.If we continue to play with the same effort our age gap will soon dissapear.We have a few more games left if we put the same effort in we will get results.Well done girls. Mossley Hill 3 Preston N E 1 16/3/08 In a game Mossley could not lose otherwise relegation was a real possibility.The girls dug deap, into their reserves to run out worthy winners.Lorna scored from a goal keeping mistake with a calm chip to make it 1,0.Preston sored just before half time to make it level.Mossley were not to be beaten with the team working hard to get the victory.Steph Jones added the second from a good move and a simple tap in at the near post..We were then awarded a penalty Carla stepped up the rest was best left to history,This then spurred Carla to want to prove a point and added the 3rd with a great long range shot.Preston could have little complaint as Mossley full of very young players won the game convincingly. Mossley Hill 1 Bury 5 Cup 2/03/08 We really are a team needing to adjust to the pace of this League the level of play at the moment is leaving the team in a daze.We need to find our feet very quickly as we are being dragged into the relegation fight.Our ambition this season is to stay up then regroup for the ne season.Some of the girls are proving they can cope with the step up others are fiding it very difficult.We need to stick together and support each other to get through the next few weeks. Airbus 3 Mossley Hill 5 Lge 24/02/08 A game we could not afford to lose,we never really got out of first gear and could have been out of sight by half time.Kimberley down the right had the beating of the full back and caused their defence plenty of problems.Stacey back after a long term injury opened the scoring with a good finish,Kimberley then had a run down the right to score.Carla added a third with an inswinging free kick.In between the goals we needed to be on our guard with some defensive lapses Airbus could have got back in to the game but good Goal keeping was needed to keep the score line in our favour.Steph added another goal and Stacey to make the score line more respectableWe need to improve greatly to compete against the better teams.
