Burnley 0 Mossley Hill 2 15/11/2009 Lge On a pitch that was almost unplayable the girls needed to dig deep to gain a deserved win against a good Burnley side.We had to start well and looked quite sharp early doors. A few chances were created but it was not till just before half time a good move saw Carl bullet a header from 8 yds to open the scoring. H.T.1,0. The second half saw several good chances come and go, Sophie then latched on to a through ball and hit a great shot in to the top corner of the net. Mossley Hill needed to stand firm against a determined Burnley side but as always the whole team pulled together to ensure we kept a clean sheet. AFC Urmston 0 Mossley Hill 4 25/09/09 Lge A game were we needed to start well and keep themselves top of the league. We struggled to break down a determined and organised defense. It was a long throw and a tap in from Sophie that opened the scoring.Kaisha was at the heart of the midfield showing strength well beyond her tender years. H,T. 0,1. In the 2nd half Mossley went up a gear and played some great football Sophie added a 2nd with the 3rd starting from right back out to Kim who crossed to Sophie who took a touch and finished with a first time shot to complete her hatrick. We had several other long range shots with the goal keeper making several great saves.Sophie made it 4 to make the game safe and a memorable day for her and the team to remember. AFC never stopped playing and working for each other well done for their team spirit. Mossley Hill 3 Wigan 1 18/09/09 Lge Mossley Hill had a really tough game against a very good Wigan side who for long periods kept the ball far better than ourselves .We all needed to work hard to keep pace with the game.Kaisha unleashed an unstoppable shot to give us a 1,0. lead quickly snubbed out by a similar shot from Wigan to make it 1,1.The score;line stayed the same till half Time. Mossley were finding it hard to break the Wigan defense down, 2 substitutions saw the emphasis on attacking take over Carla scored after coming on with Stacey giving the Wigan left back a terrible time she was getting crosses in at will, this lead to Laura Russell heading in a 3rd. In the end a desreved victory but we had to work hard for it from a very determined Wigan team. We need to remeber the age of the team compared to the league we are in it is sometimes hard work amd fitness that gets you over the line. Preston North End 1 Mossley Hill 2 11/10/09 Lge Mossley Hill dominated this game and should have been out of sight by half time,Although Preston had took a lead after 7 mins. Fletcher Moss 2 Mossley Hill 3, 20 /09/09 Lge A game whch saw 2 of our younger girls get their starting debuts against a very good Fletcher Moss team.We all watched fletcher Moss play far too much in the first half and saw ourselves 2,0. down. We looked a little nervous at the start and not wanting to make any mistakes. The second half saw a couple of changes with a free kick converted by Sophie Perry with a great header. Carla then hit a swerving free kick in from 25 yds to make it 2,2. A ball then was piniched of the Fletcher defense and fell to Sophie who was on the half way line and hit an incredible shot which went over the keeper in to the net. The defense stood firm for a great win.The work rate of the girls was a credit to their deternination to win well done to all the girls. Mossley Hill 0 Chorley 0 13/09/09 Lge MossleyHill dominated this game and should have won by a mile, however the defence always needed to be aware of the threat of Chorley as they had scored 22 goals in the last 2 games.Mossley need to learn to finish teams off when they are on the back foot, we should have won all 3 games and be top of the league.I am pleased with our progress and there is a long way to go in the league title race. We will be there or there abouts at the end of the season. Mossley Hill 3 Chester 0 Wednesday 09/09/09 Lge Mossley Hill wanted to correct the score line from Sunday and set about the task from the off, we were 3 up after 30 mins due to Goals from Hannah Parsons and Stacey Kelly, some of the wing play was excellent, and our midfield looked strong and competitive. The defence was back to their normal selves.Michelle made for an excellent save in the second half to keep the score line at 3-0. With wave after wave of attack Mossley Hill could not add to their total and it finished 3-0. Chester played their part in a great game of football. Our first 3 points of the season and we are now on our way. Chester 4 Mossley Hill 3 Sunday 6/09/09 Lge Mossley Hill played a very strong Chester side and failed to defend from 3 corners and a G/Keeping error cost us 3 valuable points. In a game that saw us create enough chances to win even after conceding 4 goals we could have easily been the victors. Carla Lee 2 and Hannah Parsons 1 were the goal scorers, we play the same team on Wednesday and if we avoid errors we should be OK.
