21st March 2009 GROUP A - CUP Mossley Hill 'C' 1 v 2 Mossley Hill 'A' Today saw us face our own Mossley Hill 'C' team again, these games are difficult but they have to be played as both teams have had a fantastic season and deserve to be sitting in the top four in the league. The girls started well and worked hard, but within the first ten minutes one delightful first touch from young Nadia left our defence standing and she put the 'C' team infront with a well taken goal. There was some fantastic football played and the girls kept battling and were unlucky not to get an equaliser before half time. We went in 1-0 down, in the second half we came out and continued to put pressure on their defence and eventually the pressure paid off with Sophie getting the equaliser within the first five minutes. Using Amy's fab long throw we kept attacking and eventually five minutes before the end we got our chance and Sophie's header from Amy's long throw put us in front. The girls didn't stop working today giving 110%, they really wanted these points to give us a chance to catch up. Sophie started to really get some room in the second half and we benefited from her speed and skill. In my opinion our 'C' team are the hardest team we have played against this season, the youngsters have worked hard in their first season in the U12 league and deserve their place along side us in the top of the division. This was a very good performance from both Mossley Hill sides. Well done to all the girls.....!!! Girl of the Match: Sophie John (What can I say......fantastic...!!) 14th March 2009 GROUP A - CUP Mossley Hill 'A' 0 v 0 Liverpool Feds 'A' This week we pulled off another fantastic performance from all the girls against a very good Liverpool Feds side. The girls put in 110% for the whole match with some delightful football played by all the girls. I felt we dominated the game with Hannah having very little to do and the girls working for each other. I would like to say a big well done to Molly having her first start in a Mossley Hill shirt today, she didn't stop running and hassled their defence into a number of mistakes. In true Mossley Hill fashion all the girls never gave up - we had chances to make the game ours, we hit the bar and threatened their goal with good shots all game but just couldn't finish. We looked today like the team I know we are - a fantastic performance from all the girls - well done to you all...!!!! Girl of the Match : Molly Hardwick (well done Molly - you ran your legs off today...!! ) 7th March 2009 GROUP A - CUP Mossley Hill 'A' 1 v 2 Tranmere Rovers Today was a better team performance from the girls, with all girls giving everything on the pitch - we played some good passing football and created a few chances but we were unable to apply the finishing touches. Tranmere are a very good football side and both teams were well matched. We went in 0-0 at half time with everything to play for......! Tranmere broke the deadlock first in the second half with a scrappy goal after a ping pong battle in the box and added to their tally with a gift five minutes later, when Hannah was unable to hold on to a high ball and the ball fell into the net. The good news is the girls didn't give up we pulled ourselves together and we started to apply pressure to their defence. Sophie got one back for us after an excellent shot from the left side. The girls continued to work hard today but we unfortunately ran out of time - the girls looked like the team I know they are today, with them all working together. This was a good performance and we was unlucky not to get something out of the game. Well done to all the girls. Girl of the Match: Malika O'Neill (Great battle today lik...well done!) 28th February 2009 GROUP A - CUP Mossley Hill 'C' 3 v 0 Mossley Hill 'A' This was a very disappointing day for both me and the girls - these games are difficult but there is no excuse for girls not giving 100% on the pitch. We started well and spent the first ten minutes attacking the C team but we couldn't break through! Chad then scored a well taken goal and straight away you could see the girls heads went down allowing Chad to pop another one in five minutes later. Second half didn't get much better with the girls getting more frustrated and forgetting how to play - we didn't defend very well at all today and declined to pass the ball to each other when attacking this was punished by a very good side. A final indirect freekick well taken by Hannah finished us off. I think the girls were taught a hard lesson today!! I think the girls need to start to believe in their own abilities, I only ask that the girls go out there and give me 100% - this game has gone now and we need to get back to working together as a team to get the job done. 21st February 2009 Mossley Hill 'A' 3 v 1 North Park United Today was our last game of the league and saw us face a team that beat us in the final of the cup last year - the girls where fully up for finishing the league in style and a win would put us in 2nd place and we would just have to sit back and wait for the other teams to play their fixtures. The girls started well again with some great link up work across the field - we dominated this game and the girls showed why we are sitting in 2nd place with only one defeat in thirteen games. Sophie started the scoring with a fine individual goal, Chanti added a second ten minutes later and we went in 2-0 up at half time. Second half the girls started well again but again we let the opposing team back in and they scored making it 2-1. Nicole came on and settled on the right wing and like any goal poacher she was in the right place at the right time and popped in a lovely strike. We finished strongly and the girls gained a well deserved vistory. Girl of the match: Chanti (well done...!) 14th February 2009 St Annes Rovers 2 v 6 Mossley Hill 'A' With only seven players available to play today - we stepped up to the challenge of a physical St Annes team. We dominated the first half of the game with some fantastic work attacking corners and resulted in goals from Amy (2), Malika (1), Sophie (1) and Chanti (1). Going in at half time we was 5-1up, the second half we did something we very rarely do and that was to sit back and let St Annes come at us. St Annes had a very good second half and attacked us straight from the kick off. St Annes scored first and that shocked the girls and we started to play again, with some fantastic passing we got a hold on the game again. Chanti scored a fine individual goal to finish off the game. Well done girls......one more game to go - lets keep up the good work...!! Girl of the Match : Amy Roberts (well done Robbo! - a fantastic defensive performance..!!) 31st January 2009 Mossley Hill 'A' 0 v 0 Liverpool Feds 'A' This week we pulled off another fantastic performance from all the girls against a very good curently unbeaten Liverpool Feds side. The girls put in 110% for the whole match with some delightful football played by both teams. But in true Mossley Hill fashion the girls never give up - we had chances to make the game ours but just failed to have that killer finishing touch. This game was a great game - with a fantastic performance from all the girls - well done to you all...!!!! Girl of the Match : Rebecca Shore (well done Becca - you played out of your skin today...!! ) 29th November 2008 Mossley Hill 'A' 0 v 0 Mossley Hill 'C' Today's game we faced our second and final derby! I think this was a difficult game for both teams - as each week all the girls train together and their whole Mossley Hill experience this year has been done together - so to face each other today was not easy. We started well again and tried to play our usual passing game, but the C team closed us down quickly making it hard for us to get going! We played well in parts and with two penalties awarded to us it is hard to say but the score confirms that we were unable to take advantage of the opportunities. In all, this was a great display of football by both teams, played in a fantastic atmosphere both on the pitch and on the line. Well done to all the girls who worked hard and never gave up..! Mick and I are very proud of the football displayed by both teams today.........well done girls. Girl of the Match: Malika O'Neill (Well done Lik...!) 22nd November 2008 Mossley Hill 'B' 1 v 3 Mossley Hill 'A' Today saw us face our first derby of the season, and what a good game of football it turned out to be. We started alot better today and played some fantastic football in the first half, passing the ball around and attacking as a unit. We created a number of scoring opportunities but were unable to apply the finishing touches. We initially went behind to a sloppy goal from a corner, but the girls continued to play good football and were rewarded just before half time with a great goal from Sophie. Second half we came out and continued to apply pressure to a B team defence that didn't make it easy for us - eventually we broke the defence with another goal from Sophie and a little later one from Chantelle, this saw us go 3-1 up and we held on for the victory. In true Mossley Hill fashion both teams gave 110% today and never gave up - well done to all the girls from both teams for there effort and commitment. Girl of the Match: Sophie John (Well done Soph...!) 8th November 2008 Mossley Hill 'A' 7 v 0 Farmers With two players ruled out of today's game with ankle injuries - we faced today's opponents with only seven players. We again took our time to initially get going but I have to personally thank all the girls for being great team players. We eventually broke the deadlock with Malika and then Sophie putting us two nil up going in at half time. Sophie was not herself today suffering with a back injury, she never gave up and after an early switch at the start of the second half from left wing to up front she scored another goal. Rach had a great second half on the left wing and was rewarded with two well taken goals. Nicole worked hard on the right and held her position well. Becca and Zoe who were playing together for the first time this season at the back and did a great job. (Well done girls you were fab..!) Malika hit a fantastic free kick just outside the box to notch up her second goal of the game and Sophie finished a great second half performance with another hat trick. Another faultless performance was also had by Hannah in goal who kept another clean sheet. (That's five in a row Han....) The girls all gave 110% today and I can't ask for anything more than that. I did ask alot of some players today, as I played them in unfamiliar positions but they showed what a great team they are by all doing the job asked of them, the girls attitudes are exemplary - they are all a credit to both their parents and Mossley Hill Football Club. Well done girls.......you were all fantastic today!! Girl of the Match: Zoe Kiziltan (Well done Zoe - first full game...fab!!) 1st November 2008 Mossley Hill 'A' 11 v 0 Marine Girls This was definately a game of two halves.....! Our first half today was not our best and the girls took their time getting out the blocks - again we made it hard for ourselves early on by giving the ball away far to easily. Marine's first half goalkeeper did very well to keep us out for a while, but a goal each from Nicole and Sophie took us in 2-0 up at half time. The second half was a different story with Rachel coming on and scoring within minutes of the re-start - she then went on to score a further four more very good goals to bring her total for the game to five. (Well done) Chanti popped one in and Sophie had a great game putting a further three great goals passed the marine keeper bringing her game total to four. Hannah again didn't have very much to do today but she stayed focused and notched up another clean sheet. Zoe came on to replace Becca for her debut and her hard work nearly paid off as she came very close at the end when an unselfish Rachel let the ball run through to her and she had a fine shot saved. The defence didn't have much to do today but stayed solid and started to join in the attack. For me today Amy had a great game and captained her side to a convincing victory. Again a very big thank you and well done to all the girls......... Girl of the Match : Amy Roberts (You had a great game today...well done Amy! ) 18th October 2008 Brazil 0 v 2 Mossley Hill 'A' Today's opponents were Brazil and well done to a young brazil side who made us work for this one. With only seven girls available to play today we had to shuffle the team around a bit and Malika dropped back into defence and took over the captains band. The defence worked hard today and Hannah was as always on her toes in goal. We made it difficult for ourselves in parts but in true fashion the girls didn't give up! With a netbreaking left foot shot to the top right hand corner from Sophie saw us go 1-0 up. Brazil's goalkeeper had a busy day with us threatening their goal all game but unable to find the finishing touch. Chantelle finished it of in the second half with a well taken goal from outside the box. Again, a big well done to all the girls.....! Girls of the Match : Chantelle Townson and Malika O'Neill (Well done guys....!) 11th October 2008 Mossley Hill 'A' 9 v 0 Bleak Hill Rovers This was one of those games where everything goes your way!! Don't get me wrong the girls worked hard and deserved everything they got from this game. Half time we went in two nil up with Rach being the first to break the deadlock followed by a goal from Sophie just before half time. The second half saw the girls relax and start playing what can only be described as 'delightful' football..! The one touch football and the goals started flowing with Rach putting in four, Sophie getting a hatrick, Chantelle getting her first goal of the season and Nicole popping up to put another one in - well done to all the girls, who worked hard and deserved a fantastic score. Girl of the Match : Sophie John (Well done Soph....you had a fantastic game...!) 4th October 2008 North Park United v Mossley Hill 'A' (Game cancelled due to weather) 27th Sept 2008 Mossley Hill 'A' 2 v 0 Thingwall 'B' Today saw us face Thingwall 'B' - we dominated most of this game and created a lot of scoring opportunities, but made it difficult for ourselves at times - well done to Sophie and Nicole who scored the two goals that won us the game. Again, another very good performance from the girls with Sophie and Chantelle causing trouble on the wings and Malika putting in another solid performance in the middle of the park. Rebecca and Amy kept it tight at the back and Rach and Nicole gave a good performance up front with Nicole coming on and netting her first goal of the season - well done Nicole. Girl of the Match : Chantelle Townson (Well done Chant...keep breathing!!) 20th Sept 2008 Tranmere Rovers 2 v 0 Mossley Hill 'A' What can I say about this game other than - we were very unlucky!! With only seven players available this week we pulled off another fantastic performance from all the girls against a very good Tranmere side. The girls put in 110% for the whole match with some delightful football played by both teams. But in true Mossley Hill fashion the girls never give up - we had chances to make the game ours but just slipped up in the last 5 mins with Tranmere getting the better of us and putting two past us. This game was a fantastic advertisement for girls football - well done to both sides...!!!! Girl of the Match : Rachel Gillan (well done Rach - you ran you legs of today...!! ) 13th Sept 2008 Mossley Hill 'A' 2 v 0 The Feds 'B' First game of the season saw us face The Feds 'B', unknown to the girls the points were ours before the game kicked off with The Feds unable to field a team. Instead we played a friendly game against a mix of the feds 'A' + 'B' team players. Thank you to the feds for providing us with an opportunity to have a run out. It was a good team performance from the girls, in which truthfully we played some great football. Two goals from Malika and Sophie, put the game out of each of the feds. Well done to all the girls - always good to start the season with a win. Girl of the Match: Malika O'Neill (well done Malik...!!)
